Area
Code Repair:
Are the area codes
in your database current? Eliminate missed phone calls and faxes with
Area Code Repair!
Just e-mail us your data
and well repair it and e-mail it back to you (usually by the next
business day).
We provide an extremely accurate service
(we have put in thousands of hours programming Area Code Repair and
use multiple data sources to ensure accuracy!).
What you need to do:
First, export your data. If you have a programmer who can do this, you
just need to send the following info. in a comma-delimited file:
- An I.D. (for you to load
the record back in [this should be unique to the record and the field
in the record]). For instance, the phone number for customer 123 could
be 123-01 and the fax number for the same customer might be 123-02.
This field can be alphanumeric.
- The phone number or,
if you don't want to send the complete phone number for security purposes,
then put the area code in one field and the prefix (the next three
digits after the area code) in a second field.
- An optional second phone/fax
number for that record, if needed.
- The city name. This is
not required, but it helps in some cases. Note: do not send the state
as well just the city.
- The zip code. Again this
is not required, but sometimes can help us make the repair even more
thorough.
Note: If you include other
data which may have embedded commas (such as a company name [ABC, Inc.]),
make sure that field is quoted.
If you arent a programmer, but can export the data (and load
the repaired data back in) from your database or contact manager, you
can send us whatever info. you like in either a comma-delimited or fixed
length file format. It just needs to include the phone number (and preferably
the city and zip code as well).
Depending on the format you send us, we will send back either the whole
file exactly as it was, except the records with the splits will have
the new area codes, or a file with just the records which were changed.
We can handle up to 2 phone numbers per record (such as both the phone
and fax numbers in the same record).
Next, compress the file with PKZip, WinZip or similar product and email
it to: Repair @ GreatData.com. Well repair it and e-mail it to
you (normally by the next business day).
Finally, print and fill out the Order Form and fax it to us. This will
notify us that you have sent the file and will provide us the contact
and payment info. we need. We will notify you about every 4 to 6 months
when it may be time to process the file again.
We will send you back the following:
- A new file that has the repaired records.
- A report file which has statistics on the repair.
- An error file which lists records that have bad area codes or prefixes.
- A late file. This contains a list of records that were too late
to safely convert. If you send us the city and zip code, this file
will normally be just a few records.
The file we send you will be a self-extracting .exe file. Just double-click
on it and it will extract the files. Let us know on the Order Form if
your e-Mail firewall won't accept executable (.exe) files.
Pricing:
The basic price is 10 cents (US) per number changed (we dont charge
for records not changed). On the initial order, there is a $150 minimum
order and $75 minimum order on repeat orders. Normally, about 10% to
12% of a file is repaired.
If you have 10,000 or more records changed, you will qualify for a
discount (10% discount for 10,000 records changed up to a 75% discount
(as little as 2.5 cents per change) for 75,000 records changed). We
charge only 1 cent for processing the second phone/fax number in a record.
